About John T. Aquino, Attorney
John T. Aquino has a J.D. from the Columbus School of Law, the Catholic University of America. He is a member of the D.C. and Maryland bars, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. He has served as a member of the board of editors Washington Lawyer magazine, the official magazine of the D.C. bar. He was also a member of the board of directors of the John Carroll Society, a society of D.C. professionals who are mostly attorneys and physicians, and of CINE (Council on International Nontheatrical Events), an association focused on documentaries and other nontheatrical films.
Prior to becoming an attorney, he was a publishing executive and worked for a number of nonprofits. Consequently, as an attorney, he frequently represents authors, publishers, and nonprofits. He has handled copyright, defamation, privacy, and other media law-related cases.
He has spoken on panels and at conferences for the American Society of Association Executives Law Week, the American Society of Business Press Editors, the Folio Magazine conference, the New York bar, and the D.C. bar.
Aquino also served as the plaintiff's consultant in litigation concerning the 2000 movie The Perfect Storm.
His practice focus is media law.
